Discovery Series

Leader: Pastor Gerri Washington
Ephesians 2:19-22 "Now, therefore, ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom ye also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit."
Discovery Series is a sequence of new members classes in which the members are educated on specific aspects of the church, including, but not limited to, mission, vision and beliefs. Spiritual gifts are determined, which assist in assessing how they can be used in building the house of God. Consistency in attending these classes is the first requirement before getting actively involved in the church. Basic Christian principles are taught and misconceptions about Christianity are cleared up in these classes. Discovery Series is held on Sundays, 9:00 A.M. - 10:00 A.M. and is scheduled for thirteen (13) weeks. It is truly an eye-opening and exciting time for new members to learn about their new church home.

Children's Church

Leader: Lovetta Scipio
Proverbs 22:6 - "Train up a child up in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it. "
Children's Church commences on the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th Sundays at 10:30 A.M (simultaneously with adult service) and accepts children ages 3 years (potty trained) to 9 years old. The children are taught - on their level - the Gospel of Jesus Christ via the Bible and have the type of interaction that leads to spiritual maturity. How to worship, honor and receive encouragement from God are all taught and helps in teaching them how to fulfill the God-given mission and purpose of the Church of Jesus Christ.
The Noah's Park Curriculum is used, which provides: Bible Study, Bible Memory Activities, Music Activities, Puppet Skits, Prayer Time, Snacks, Crafts and Games. The actual lesson is broken down into Discovery Trails, Worship Trails, Wild Life Trails and Happy Trails. Other spontaneous (spiritual and child-like activities) are implemented as directed.
The staff is excited and enthused about teaching the children the Word of God. Our youth, under adult supervision, also assist in the growth and success of our Children's Church. The 5th - 7th graders register and go through training to become Park Patrollers; they help the teachers with activities and other duties as assigned. Bring your children for a structured and joyous time in the Lord!!

Church in Action Service

Leader: Pastor Gerri Washington
Acts 2:42 - "And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers."
This is an exciting evening of Bible Study that is held on Wednesday, 7:00 - 8:30 P.M. Pastor Washington teaches an awesome lesson to the congregation for approximately 35 minutes, after which everyone migrates to one of twelve Circle of Light groups. This is a saint-to-saint ministry lead by Torchbearers (facilitators) who further discuss the lesson in a more intimate setting. The common interest in the groups is to work together for spiritual growth and development. Our teens also have their own Circle of Light group, in which they can discuss the teachings and how they can be applied to their daily lives. Come out and get foundational teachings and applications, and experience the move of God as you apply His principles!

Children Striving for Excellence

Leader: Lovetta Scipio
Deuteronomy 11: 18-21 - "Therefore you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land of which the LORD swore to your fathers to give them, like the days of the heavens above the earth. "
"Children Striving for Excellence" is a fun-filled Bible Study for Pre-k thru 5th grades. This ministry is held simultaneously with Church in Action Services on Wednesday, 7 :00 - 8:30 P.M. The facilitator teaches the scriptural lesson for the first 45 minutes. In addition, educational standards are incorporated as the children learn scriptures, role-play, watch movies, fellowship and complete arts and crafts. They are also taught to consider - What Would Jesus Do- based on the challenges they may have at their ages. As the children are evaluated, they earn "bible bucks" to shop at the children's bible store on a quarterly basis. Occasionally, correspondences are sent home to the parents, so they can be aware of the Christian values reviewed with their children. In the later part of the evening, they are allowed to finish their homework and receive assistance with any subjects they may not understand. Parents are encouraged to bring their children out to have an exciting time in the Lord!

Women of Unity

Leader: Pastor Gerri Washington
II Chronicles 30:12 - "Also the hand of God was on Judah to give them singleness of heart to obey the command of the king and the leaders, at the word of the Lord. "
"Women of Unity" is vital in that it has one heart to minister to women through biblical principles and is an outreach strictly for women, not only in this church, but for women in the community. This ministry continuously outreaches to the hurting, saved, abused, joyous, lonely, unsaved and deployed families alike. Women of Unity sponsors yearly events as community luncheons and fellowship trips to other cities for active members. The meetings are based solely on biblical teachings - growth and holy living are the focus. Women of Unity instills values such as: The Love and Fear of God, the Heart for Christ, Wisdom, Discretion, and Prudence into God's gift - women. God desires that we grow and walk together as one. Come and be a blessing the 1st Thursday of the month at 7:00 P.M.

Men of Unity

Sean Sanders
Psalms 133:1-3 - "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, Running down on the beard, The beard of Aaron, Running down on the edge of his garments. It is like the dew of Hermon, Descending upon the mountains of Zion; For there the Lord commanded the blessing - Life forevermore."
"Men of Unity" is vital in that it ministers to men through biblical principles and is an outreach strictly for men, not only in this church, but for men in the community. Men of God must walk as one with a common cause - "The Gospel of Jesus Christ" - and working together will promote this cause. Men of Unity discuss men issues and how to deal with these based on the Word of God. God desires that men be united to win souls for the kingdom and destroy the enemy. The Bible indicates that one can chase a thousand, but two can chase ten thousand. Do the math; if there is more than two walking together, how much of the enemy's camp can be destroyed? Come out and be warriors for Christ the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7:00 P. M.
